Any cam I have had up to .550 lift with 1.5 rockers I have always done cylinder one on the compression stroke then turn the engine 90 degrees then move to cylinder 8 and do the same procedure. It's easy to feel when you have zero clearance. Turn the adjuster 1/2-3/4 turn and lock down. Yes, it will open the valve but once it starts running it bleeds down.
